Shotokan · Kase Ha
João Rocha practises Shotokan Karate in the Kase Ha tradition and holds the rank of 3rd dan.
This is included here not as an academic distinction, but because a canonical personal website should not flatten a person into publications, positions and awards. Martial arts belong to a different vocabulary: practice, precision, timing, repetition and embodied attention.
Gardening
A passionate gardener who designed and built a personal home garden from the ground up.
Nature photography
An avid amateur nature photographer with a focus on birds of prey, featuring work in a few public group exhibitions.
Science is the foundation, not the whole portrait.
The public record naturally foregrounds scientific work. Literature, karate, gardening and nature photography make visible other forms of sustained attention—through language, the body, cultivated space and observation of the natural world.
The aim of this section is restraint: to acknowledge those dimensions without converting them into professional branding.
